Philip Ammerman supports the Cyprus Seeds Programme

Cyprus Seeds is a non-profit organisation founded to support commercialize innovative academic research in Cypriot universities and research institutions. Its aim is to fund research in Cyprus, from any area, with market potential and with the goal to reduce uncertainty so that an external party would invest in the technology.

Nicosia: 15 May 2020

In addition to grants, Cyprus Seeds offers mentoring, business skills training and networking with the business community and possible investors outside Cyprus.

Cyprus Seeds offers several tangible benefits for Cyprus:

  • The establishment of a pipeline of technology companies in Cyprus, leading to the creation of highly skilled jobs and the retention of Cypriot scientists in the country.

  • The slowdown of ‘brain drain’.

  • The stimulation of a new, technology driven entrepreneurial culture in Cyprus.

  • The improvement of links between academia and the industry.

  • Filling the funding gap for research in the lab that has the potential to develop to the next stage (the prototype) which will attract funding from private investors.

  • An ecosystem of new companies which will make Cyprus attractive to international investors and industry.

Philip Ammerman will serve as a proposal evaluator and mentor for Cyprus Seeds.

Philip also works as an evaluator for the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 SME I and II funding schemes. He also acted as Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Cyprus in 2019, supporting faculty, staff and student on start-up ideas and development.

Philip believes in supporting entrepreneurship and innovation in Cyprus and internationally. Navigator Consulting’s Entrepreneurship Charter is a commitment to support start-ups and spin-offs between 2010 and 2020. This has led to the launch and support of 10 new companies in this time.
