Google launches Google Open Source

On Tuesday, 28 March, Google launched Google Open Source, its online directory of open source code, and one of the major examples of open innovation.

Some examples of popular applications include:

Android: Google’s mobile telephone operating system has been available for years, leading to the development of over 2.8 million apps and an approximate 87% global market share for all smartphones shipped in Q3 2016.

Angular: A web app development platform.

Chrome: Google’s popular internet browser.

End-to-End: A browser messaging encryption extension for Chrome.

Flutter: An app builder for Android and iOS using a single codebase.

Open Science Journal: A sensoring, measuring and recording app.

Upspin: A global file sharing registry and platform.
